Somewhere Children Are Crying
Byron S Wills
April 7, 2008
We see it in the news.
Somewhere children are crying.
In our communities and in others afar.
Children are hurting – children are dying.
How can we look away?
How can we not hear?
What will it take to move us to action?
What is it that we fear?
Lack of food, shelter and love
Make it hard for children to cope.
Meeting these and other needs
Will help them thrive – give them hope.
It doesn’t matter where they are.
What their color, race or creed.
Children are still children.
And a need is still a need!
As Kiwanians, we see the need.
A higher purpose we accept and embrace
To save the world one child at a time.
To insure the future of the human race.
The Children are our future.
Their well-being effects us all.
Will we accept the challenge and help them?
Will we be the ones to answer the call?
Wherever we may find ourselves.
Whether we and our Clubs are rich or poor.
There is still much we can do to help children.
Of this we can all be sure.
So, while somewhere children are crying.
If we do our best – do what is right.
We can turn crying to smiling.
Give them a future that’s happy and bright.
